The Dark Horse Sessions return with a bruk special. We are honoured to welcome very special guest Alex Phountzi alongside the G-Force resident DJs.

Alex Phountzi — for those who are unfamiliar…
Alex has been releasing music since the late 90s, initially as part of the West London ‘broken beat' movement and it's legendary flagship clubnight CoOp, which started at The Velvet Rooms in Charing Cross Road before moving to Plastic People in Shoreditch. An early project of note was Neon Phusion, a 3 piece group that included Afronaut and Kaidi Tatham. Their debut album, 'The Future Ain't The Same As It Used To Be' is widely regarded as being one of the first LP's to help lay the blueprint for the ensuing movement. This was one of many side projects of the then fledgling music collective, Bugz In The Attic, of which Alex was an original member. High points included albums for FabricLive and an debut LP on V2 recordings as well as numerous remixes for artists including 4hero, Roisin Murphy, Amy Winehouse and Fela Kuti.

Having left the collective in 2008, he went on to start the Greenmoney production and label project with Leo Greenslade. The pair hosted a weekly show on Ministry of Sound and Brooklyn radio and worked with and released music from numerous producers and artists including Terri Walker, Major Notes, Roses Gabor and Boxwork and remixes for acts such as Aswad, Zed Bias, Gyptian and William Orbit. 2013 saw the start of the NameBrandSound project with long term collaborator, IG Culture. A debut EP was released on Ninja Tune offshoot Technicolor Records and was followed by releases on their own Arena Yard imprint. Two events in conjunction with Boiler Room saw the relaunch of the CoOp club night and the founding of the Selectors Assemble collective. Conceived initially with an EP release on First Word Records this was followed by the launch of a brand new CoOp Presents label in 2018 and monthly radio show on Gilles Peterson's Worldwide FM.

You know you are into a fabulous night and what's more, it is FREE to attend! It will be great to see the family again. Leamington, get your dancing shoes ready!..
