"I learnt more on the Deep FACT Friars guided tour in 2 hours about Coventry than I learned in a lifetime of living here"
Join our guide The Deep FACT Friar as he takes you around Coventry's Medieval City Wall dressed as a Benedictine Monk. Discover the foundations of Coventry from 650AD, learn about the St Brices Day Massacre, Where are Leofric and Godiva now? Who was Zakariah Peach and what has a 4p Axe got to do with it?
In 1355 the City wall began and in just over 40 years they completed 12 Gates and 20 Towers. We will visit all of these locations, they finally stopped building in 1534. The wall stood until it was ordered destroyed by King Charles II in 1662.
Our aim of the tour is to share our passion ...and enthusiasm for the city, people who come on this tour will see it in a whole new light.
We meet at Coventry Priory Visitors Centre (BEHIND NANDO's CV1 1FE) from 13.30 and we leave at 2pm. It will take between 2-3 hours depending on the pace of slowest walker.
Sense of humour is essential, a camera is a good idea and a pac a mac or brolly might not be a bad idea. Wear a reasonable pair of shoes.
I look forward to showing you Coventry like you've never seen it before.
These tours are very popular so go in peace to your purse or wallet and book yourself a ticket now.
