Many people are unsure how to respond to someone who appears to be experiencing a mental health problem. This course gives people the knowledge and confidence to recognise mental health problems, to respond helpfully and support the person’s recovery. The MHFA Full Course is certificated and internationally recognised.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
— Spot the early signs of a mental health problem
— Feel confident helping someone experiencing a problem
— Provide help on a first aid basis
— Help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others
— Help stop a mental illness from getting worse
— Help someone recover faster
— Guide someone towards the right support
— Reduce the stigma of mental health problems
We have been working very hard to gain funding for this course in order to subsidise the price as much as possible!!! We managed to secure £2000 from Hands Up funding, as well as £1000 from winning a pub quiz ran by PWC, all of which has gone straight to MHFA!
Originally, the Full Course is £300 when taken through MHFA England, however, with Mind delivering the courses, and our subsidisation, we have got the price down to ONLY £77!!! This is likely to be the cheapest you will see this course priced, so DON'T MISS OUT!

This course is a fantastic opportunity and will look incredible on your CV, so we expect spaces to sell out VERY quickly, and if they do, don't worry, we have more sessions available and will release a second round if demand is high enough!!! So there will be plenty of spaces, but each course needs to be full in order to run/ be cost effective. Each Full Course has 16 spaces:)
*PSYCHOSOC MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED*
However, if you have a membership for Nightline, Student Minds, b-eat or Headucate, you may purchase a space on a course.
Spaces will be sold via the Guild website, date tbc.
We would like to express our HUGE thanks to Hands Up Funding, who have granted us with the finance to make these courses possible at the incredibly low price that they are! Find out more about Hands Up here: birmingham.ac.uk/alumni/Currentstudents/HandsUp.aspx
