The 2017 Edition of the WBSS recruitment is now open until Friday 13th at 23:59! We are looking for talented individuals with a passion for business to join our team and take part in managing the campus' largest independent society.
An executive position will provide you with an invaluable experience, which will teach you how to be an active team player and a leader. Being an executive will allow you to apply your skills in a department that interests you. If you are motivated with drive and ambition, we have a place for you.

Description for each department is given below.
A creative design executive must have skills in multimedia production software such as Photoshop/Illustrator for brochures, cover photos, banners, flyers and video production using iMovie/Final Cut Pro/Premiere Pro or other. The executive should be flexible and have the ability to work under pressure. Must creatively execute given tasks and produce work according to task giver’s preferences but still have the ability to work beyond explicit instructions.
A corporate executive is required to contact and negotiate with potential partner firms and sponsors, write contracts, cold call/email, maintain relationships with current partners/sponsors and organise events with firms and speakers from the business world. We are looking for individuals who are self-driven, motivated, extrovert and professional. They must feel particularly at ease orally, be comfortable when having to network, have good English writing/speaking skills and be organised.
IR executives are responsible for all communication and interaction between our members, our executives and our relationship with WBS. They are required to analyse and evaluate the society’s events and their effectiveness using business-like framework and assessment tools, and, as a result, acting as an advisory body. An IR executive is a critical thinker with an analytical mind-set, is an initiative-taker with a curious eye and aspires to become a leader.
A marketing executive is responsible for the society’s branding, through the preparation of all the different platforms; social media and physical promotion. He/she is tasked with thoroughly organising and preparing each and every event’s campaign, as well as cooperate with all of the society’s different departments. Individuals must possess strong communication skills, a clear motivation, distinct writing skills, as well as an ease in working on many different projects at the same time.
The social team is in charge of the society’s socials events and our annual flagship event, the Business Ball. The team is also responsible for hosting the member tours along with networking events. The team seeks individuals who are creative, passionate, have great organisation and negotiation skills and are motivated to make the event successful.
A treasury executive must maintain and handle the financial accounts for WBSS. We require the executive to have analytical skills and be an experienced excel user. Knowledge regarding to accounting and legal matters is preferred but not necessary.
Warwick University’s’ Quantitative Investment Group (QIG) brought to you by WBSS. IMPORTANT: You can either apply to become a QIG executive or become part of the investment fund solely.
For applying to become WBSS QIG executive:
Founded in 2016, the Quantitative Investment Group (QIG) aims to establish Warwick’s first actively managed student-led investment portfolio. QIG is a project which focuses on developing the skills needed for a successful career in trading and portfolio management.
As an exec you will have the option to participate in marketing the WBSS/QIG Investment Challenge, co-ordinating with industry sponsors for campus held events, organise debates, developing a new investment project, participating in the investment fund, raise the profile of QIG across campus through marketing campaigns, etc. Being an executive of the WBSS QIG will give you responsibility early on as well the opportunity to work with people in the investment management industry.
The execs should have the following skills:

2. Demonstrate a passion for the capital markets
3. Have a fierce commitment to integrity
4. Can manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
5. Have strong analytical, writing, verbal communication, and technical skills

For applying to work in the fund:
The Fund is open to all students who show continued commitment through attending educational workshops, society events, and demonstrate a genuine interest and passion for financial markets. The structure of the investment team is 30 analysts led by a Portfolio Manager.
We are now recruiting and positions are open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students regardless of experience and academic background. Only those with a genuine passion for financial markets and desire to learn should apply:
Economic research analysts
Students with keen interests in economics, financial markets and investment research. Analysts will produce weekly bulletins, analysing factors driving markets and offer views on potential investment opportunities. The team will also produce a Global Market Overview publication, ‘G.M.O’, which will be an annual journal featuring in-depth analysis of longer term macroeconomic themes. 8 positions available.
You will be directly involved in the building and development process of quantitative models, back testing algorithms and incorporating the economic research we produce into parameters our models can use to identify possible trends, entry and exit points for trades. 8 positions available.
Will work closely with the PM and be responsible for trading, risk and structuring of a particular strategy. You learn to analyse trading/volatility patterns for specific products and either provide strategies. Strategists will attempt to incorporate ideas generated by the economic and quantitative team into workable trades. 6 positions available.
Responsible for identifying risks any trades may be expose the fund to, they are vital to the success of the fund and play a central role. Risk analysts will cover both financial and operational risk. They will identify and analyse the risk of outside factors that may affect the share price or the market. They typically work closely with traders to calculate the risk associated with specific trading transactions. 4 positions available.
IR members are responsible for bringing in external speakers, sourcing and raising sponsorship. The IR team also focuses on building a network with fund alumni to support QIF members as they progress through the fund and into their careers. They will also seek industry experts who may be interested in becoming mentors for our analysts. They will be responsible for the distribution of the funds’ performance to its sponsors and members. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining good relationships with sponsors and assisting with our sponsor’s needs. 4 positions available.
